Public Boards and Commissions are important bodies for impacting communities at the state, regional and local levels. AABLI’s Forum will provide participants with information and an opportunity to engage with experts, including AABLI alumni and seated commissioners.

Our Moderator

Dr. Nosakhere (Noe-sa-kerry) Thomas is the Founder and CEO of Dr. Nos Coaching & Consulting, LLC where he provides coaching, consulting, and training services in leadership, mindfulness, strategy, and diversity for churches, organizations, and municipalities. He has served as a university administrator and currently serves as Teaching Faculty at Claremont Lincoln University. Dr. Thomas has served as a City of Rialto Human Resources Training Consultant, San Bernardino County EDD Parolee Re-Entry Trainer, City of Rialto Advisory Committee Member, City of Fontana Commissioner, and Director of Faith and Community for Los Angeles Councilmember Marqueece Harrison-Dawson.

Nancy Harris, a Los Angeles native, currently serves as the Executive Director of the Faith Foster Families Network, 3FN. 3FN is a faith-based collaborative of six churches and faith-based organizations that have formed to support foster families, youth, and those impacted by the foster care system in South Los Angeles. Harris also currently serves as an arbitrator for Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and is a Los Angeles County Commissioner for the Quality and Productivity Commission appointed by former Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.

Vincent Jones is an innovative connector with a passion for building dynamic communities around a common purpose and finding creative solutions to advance progressive change. His career spans the worlds of philanthropy, non-profits, politics, government, communications, travel, and social entrepreneurship. Currently, he is the Founding CEO of The Citizen Jones Companies, a collection of socially-minded businesses created with the spirit of doing good, having fun, and helping others do the same. Previously appointed to the City of Los Angeles Innovation & Performance Commission by Mayor Eric Garcetti, Jones currently serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of Strategic Concepts in Organizing and Political Education (SCOPE) and Secretary on the Board of Tides Advocacy as Secretary. He is also a founding Board Member of The African-American Board Leadership Institute.

Karriann Farrell Hinds has dedicated her professional career to public service and advocating for equal rights and equal access to opportunity and services in her community. Karriann serves on the boards of several political advocacy and social justice organizations, including as President of the National Women’s Political Caucus of California, the state affiliate of a national membership organization and serves as the umbrella to 10 chapters across California that recruit, train, and support women running for office and advocates for gender equity in laws and policies, and on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Political Committee, one of the longest-standing organizations dedicated to supporting women running for executive and legislative offices in California, as well as the United States Senate and Congress. Additionally, Karriann uses her platforms to advocate for increasing gender parity in appointments to boards and commissions at the local and state levels, and mentors and trains women to seek appointments. Karriann serves in two appointments, as the President of the Los Angeles County Commission for Women, and, as a gubernatorially appointed public member on the California Board of Accountancy.
